Facebook vs. Myspace

Myspace or Facebook?

Advertisers are paying close attention to the trends of the behavior of online users on social networking sites based on their behavior and their demographics. An article published by Forbes describes how advertisers choose to promote their products/company on social networking sites and which parameters they utilize in doing this. (age, use, income, college bound vs. working post secondary school).
This articles gives some interesting statistics on the Ad revenue Facebook and Myspace gained as of last year...

"Estimated ad revenue for 2007 calendar year for Facebook is $125 million, $525 million for MySpace, according to research firm eMarketer. Together, the two account for 72% of all online advertising on social networks."

This article also mentions the likelihood of Facebook users purchasing more items as a result of advertisments, where through Myspace advertisers are able to reach a larger more diverse audience....decisions, decisions....

I personally feel like companies would be better off advertising on Facebook as opposed to MySpace. For some reason I feel like Facebook ads would be more legitamite and users would trust them more and therefore be more apt to follow through with a purchase.

I agree, Facebook just comes off as being more professional than MySpace does. People's profiles on MySpace are all different while Facebook has a general format. Advertisments on facebook are all in the same place so that you know what's an ad and what is a profile while MySpace can get confusing at times. This I feel makes the Facebook ones more legitimate.
